Top 5 Tuesday || Red, Orange, Yellow!

Top 5 Tuesday

This week’s Top 5 Tuesday theme, created by Shanah @ bionicbookwormblog, is all about color! Specifically, covers with red, orange, and yellow.

Let it be known this was a deep dive into my TBR, and that I wish I had enough money to buy all of these books right now.

Iron Cast by Destiny Soria

Iron Cast Cover

I just love love love the detailing on this cover in those gorgeous borders, and the very vintage feel. It’s also surprisingly warm for a book named Iron Cast, which I would have pictured cool grays and such for. Also, that skull, right in the O? It’s just unsettling enough that I bet it’s plot-relevant, and I can’t wait to find out whether I’m right.

For a Muse of Fire by Heidi Heilig

For a Muse of Fire Cover

I am absurdly in love with this cover, first because there’s a dragon (I do love some good dragons), and second because it’s so fiery and dark at the same time. You can pick out just a few details on the buildings, but they’re mostly caught in shadow, and it seems like the world is just completely on fire beyond them. I can feel it in my bones: there’s going to be a lot happening in this book, and I’m ready for it.

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

I’m not sure what I love more here: the mask in all its silvery glory, or the way the background is a little bit hazy, like it’s being viewed through something. Plus, black, red, and silver always makes for such an awesome, menacing cover (see literally anything VE Schwab since her books really seem to have a brand lol).

The Darkest Legacy by Alexandra Bracken

ZU GETS HER OWN NOVEL AND MY HEART IS SO FULL.

That said, I love the cover and how well it ties in with Zu’s powers as a Yellow. I love the silhouettes at the bottom, I LOVE the lightning at the top, and for whatever reason, I guess I’m a sucker for that title font, too. Basically, there’s nothing here that I don’t love, and I’m so excited to get my hands on this book.

Vengeful by VE Schwab

I mentioned Schwab earlier for a reason, and it’s because you get covers like this for her work. The original and updated Vicious covers are also very red-heavy, and A Darker Shade of Magic has a similar color scheme, but this is possibly my favorite. It’s simple but so dark and angry and dangerous, and I know my heart isn’t gonna make it out of this book alive. That’s okay, though. I know what I signed up for.

What are some of your favorite warm-colored covers? Do we share any favorites? Also, isn’t “don’t judge a book by its cover” so hard when the covers are this pretty?

  1. I really like the cover for Vengeful and also the new cover for Vicious, not that there was anything wrong with the old one, but the new ones look amazing together. She does have a lot of red in her cover art … This Savage Song was also quite red heavy. It’s not that I mind, but I just never noticed before, I guess haha

    1. The old cover is great, you’re right, but those new covers are just STUNNING and really suit the series well. And haha, yeah! Plus the A Darker Shade of Magic series and City of Ghosts are black and red and white! She’s got a brand lol.

    1. Aaaah same honestly! I’m really hoping I’ve got some money to spare when it comes out because I just KNOW it’s gonna be amazing.

And yes, ZU! I’m so happy she’s getting her own story, I love her. πŸ’›

  2. Wow I’ve never seen the Iron Cast cover before and it is absolutely gorgeous!! It’s making me want to read it πŸ™‚ I love Vengeful too, I’m not a huge V. E Schwab fan but her covers are always amazing.

    1. Isn’t it? I’m just itching to read it, partly for the summary, partly for that lovely cover. And yesssss, she always has the most stunning covers! The artists working on her books really know what they’re doing.

  3. These are some gorgeous covers, and I’m kicking myself for not picking them out myself lol. Shadow of the Fox is probably my favorite one!
