Writing Wednesday || Camp NaNo Check-In #6

Writing Wednesday

So, this check-in wasn’t exactly what I was hoping to have to say, but there’s no sense in avoiding it.

Basically, I’m not continuing with my second round of NaNo this month. I haven’t written a thing since last Monday, and I’m feeling horribly burnt out. I think I knew this was going to happen, but got it into my head that I could beat it anyways.

I’m just not at the point where I can write 100k in two months, and it wasn’t too smart to think I could.

But this just means I can sit back and work on it more casually! I don’t plan to shelve my project by any means, but I think I’m going to take a break, write some other stuff, and work on developing a more solid outline than what I have now. Outlines are honestly lifesavers, and I should quit putting them off if I want to complete a project.

Bottom line, it’s not all bad news. I just need a break, and if I want to finish a draft on something, I need to plan a little more efficiently in the future. Not the best ever learning experience I’ve had, but hey. Better than doing the same thing over and over without getting a thing from it.

And I can still do fun tags, too! There’s even going to be one next Friday, so keep an eye out. Can’t let the fun pass me by just because I’m taking a break!

If you’re working on a project of your own, I hope you find it smooth sailing, and if you’re in a burnout like me, take some time for yourself, step back, do something else. Make this a good Wednesday as best you can.

  1. I was worried you might feel burnt out, but I hope you don’t feel too bad about not writing. Sometimes there’s just no use and forcing it would lead to nothing but frustration and mediocre content. Working on it more casually will definitely be more productive over time πŸ˜€ I’ll continue to root for youuuu!
