Monthly Wrap || August

Monthly Wrap

Isn’t August supposed to be chill? Isn’t it summer? Isn’t it supposed to be NOT BUSY?

Guess not.

Life Beyond the Blog

This month has been SO much. My birthday, getting my brother off to college, getting me off to college, getting my driver’s license, reconnecting with friends on campus, panicking about the size of my TBR after a bit of a book splurge…there’s probably more, but that alone is all overwhelming!

Thankfully, it’s all been the good kind of overwhelming instead of the upsetting and exhausting kind, and it’s nice to be back on campus with a schedule and everything. I feel like life has structure again, which is a huge relief. Without structure, I’m such a disaster.

I think I’m probably most excited about reconnecting with everyone, though, especially my roommate and my D&D group. I’ve missed them, and it’s such a joy to have that in my life again. D&D is especially a nice break from the usual academic stress, and it’s silly, which is a great change of pace. It looks like my group will be starting with new characters this semester, too!

And even though it’s more blog news than not blog news, I’ve started a bookstagram! You can find it here, or just click the Instagram logo up in my blog header!

Books Read and Reviewed

This month, I’ve managed to get through 5 books, and I’ve written 4 reviews! If I can finish one more book tonight, I’ll up my total and write another review which I’ll try to get out on Monday for theme reasons.Β This also brings my Goodreads challenge to 47 (potentially 48!) out of 50 books, and I’m starting to think that next year, I should up my book goal, try for 75. I think I could do it, especially once I’m out of school for good.

Next Month’s Reads

With school starting, I can’t be 100% sure what I’m going to read. I’m hoping, though, to read at least two books a month for the rest of the school year, and I think City of Brass is my first pick. The second will probably be a mood-reading pick, whenever I get the chance to pick something else up. Or, if I get approved for an ARC or two, that’ll end up at the top of the priority list. It’s very flexible right now.

My Top Three Posts

As always, I like to pick three posts that I had the most fun writing. This month, it’s these three!

1. The Life Choices Write Tag

2. Top 5 Tuesday: LGBTQ+ Characters

3. The Abyss Surrounds Us Review

Favorites From Around the Blogging World

Book bloggers seem to knock it out of the park no matter what month it is. Here are some of the posts I enjoyed seeing this August!

Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books had a great post on ways you can support international bloggers!

Consu @ Paper-Eyed Girl put together a list of discussion posts meant to help bloggers out!

Remmie @ Remmington Reads has a list of tips for growing your bookstagram!

Pauliina @ Bookaholic Dreamer compiled a ton of releases to look forward to this fall and THERE’S SO MANY GOOD ONES ON THE WAY!

Kat @ Life and Other Disasters wrote about switching ideas while already working on something, which was a post I really needed myself!

Sam @ Fictionally Sam put together a HUGE bookish glossary, which is super handy if you’re a little lost in the book blogging acronyms department!

Shealea @ That Bookshelf Bitch is clearly some kind of spreadsheet wizard and shared ten hacks for using spreadsheets to better your blogging!

Good luck with September, everyone. It’s almost here!!

    1. Thanks so much, Marie! And of course! You had a great post that really caught my eye (I’m US based, so I’m still learning about the differences between myself and international bloggers), and I figured a lot of people might benefit from it!

You have a great September too! 😊
