We’re deep into the next week of NaNoWriMo, and…I actually met my goal for the week?
Current Word Count
32,058 out of 50,000! It’s not quite the 35k I was aiming for, but it’s still made me very happy. I have just a hair under 18k left to write, after all!
Favorite Line
“‘Start the ritual. Do it yourself.” [Napoleon] stalked over to a grave with a bouquet of fresh flowers atop it, slashing a paw through the blossoms and scattering petals everywhere. ‘I’ll wait here until you’re done, and when you are, you’re going to start a second ritual.’
‘And that is?’
‘You’re going to start the ritual that kills me. For good.'”
Napoleon and Kate had a bit of a spat this week that really set off tempers, and it was fun to write. Incredibly intense and angry (weirdly therapeutic in that sense), and I almost want to share the full scene with you guys. But I won’t, because it’s more fun to tease. 😉
Favorite Character
This time, it’s Emmy Ruiz, one of the twins and Kate’s love interest. She’s a sweet girl, playing clarinet for the high school marching band and teaching her twin brother, Dom, and Kate how to do pre-calc, which they’re both very bad at. She has a vicious cat allergy, too, which means she’s Napoleon’s biggest fan. Since she can’t understand him and all his complaining, all she sees is the first cat ever that she isn’t allergic to, and she loves to sit with him. He can’t say no to some good chin scratches, either. Why turn that down?
But best of all, Emmy’s whip smart and thinks fast. Even if her brother isn’t big on this whole demony world that Kate’s dragged the twins into by association, Emmy sticks by Kate through thick and thin. They’re in this together, and secretly, Emmy’s got a bit of an adventurous side she’s been scared to explore until now. She might turn into a bit of a wild child with some time. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Goals for This Week
At this point, I think it’s safe to say I’d really like to break 45k before my next check-in. Really ambitious would be aiming for the full 50k, and that’s almost on my radar. The finish line feels so much closer now, and it’s incredibly satisfying.
As always, feel free to add me on the NaNoWriMo site (my profile is here), and hopefully I’ll keep having good news in the next update!
Good luck!!!
Thank you!!
Here I am still your biggest fan. Write like the wind!
Aw, Kaleena, thank you! ❤
