The alphabet saga continues! As always, thanks to Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm Blog for running the tag and coming up with the prompts! 💙
F – For a Muse of Fire by Heidi Heilig
For a Muse of Fire has managed to combine prose, poetry, and music all in one, with a stunning cover to boot, and months later, I’m still thinking about it! There’s bipolar and bisexual rep as well, not to mention a heaping pile of blood magic to keep the plot moving.
Not to mention it’s blessed with a STUNNING COVER (and the sequel is looking just! as good!), which is always a plus!
G – Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon
I’ll be honest with you all here: I’m on the street team for Gravemaidens, so maybe this is a little biased. But this is a book about two sisters, death, healing, and sacrifice, complete with cinnamon roll LI and a second book on the way, so is it really that much of a stretch to put this on here?
Not. At. All.
Look for it in October, right before Halloween, and get your spooky on!
H – Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
I would be a FRAUD if I didn’t choose Howl’s Moving Castle for H. It’s my comfort movie, and it’s one of my most well-worn, ragtag books. You can tell just by looking at my battered copy that it’s near and dear to my heart, and I can’t even begin to think of another book that could dare to take HMC’s place. 💚
I – Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
I have Into the Drowning Deep sitting on my Kindle, just WAITING for me, and oh man oh man oh man. Killer mermaids? F/F content? SCIENCE?
This book is a targeted attack on so many of my interests, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it. Maybe I should go fix that. 🤔
J – Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore
Jane, Unlimited is just…such a weird book. It has some of the flavor of a Choose Your Own Adventure story, some of the flavor of absolutely bonkers AU fanfiction, and a protagonist whose hobby is making umbrellas. Also, there’s bisexuality, space, a very good (very odd?) dog, and something new behind every door!
Whew, another five letters done! And I haven’t hit a roadblock on any letters yet, which feels like an achievement all on its own! But hey, enough about my picks. What are your top five for FGHIJ this week?
great choices here 🙂
Thanks! 😊
no problem! 🙂
Ooh, I’ve been wanting to read For a Muse of Fire! I’m so glad to hear that you liked it. Great post 😀
It’s really fantastic! Super worth it, definitely get your hands on it if you can. And thanks! 😊
Gravemaidens looks so good!! Can’t wait to see your review for it!!
RIGHT? I’m planning my review closer to the pub date, so it’ll be up in early October!
