January 25th, 2020

We’ve reached the first Weekly Wrap of the year, and more importantly, the first Hail & Well Read Weekly Wrap! It’s time to bust out a shiny new featured image, and to break down the week.

As ever, we’ll cover what’s happened beyond the blog, posts that have gone live this week, and a preview of the week ahead! All standard stuff, is it not?

Beyond the Blog

Is there anything in my life besides Hail & Well Read right now? I think I spent all my free time this week troubleshooting one error (which miraculously fixed itself!), and prepping for the Pondathon. Since I’ve never done a readathon before and I’m in a bit of a slump, I figured it was worth the time and extra preparation.

But I suppose things have gone on in my outside life. I did, after all, catch a full odds shiny Pokémon this week, and I started work on my desk! That second bit there is possibly even more exciting than the shiny, but it’s going to take time. My dad and I have finalized the design plans at last, and he finished sawing the wood just a couple days ago. Next, we need to do a lot of refinement to complete the desktop, but it’s coming along at last! It’s my hope that we can be done by mid-March, my dad’s work schedule allowing.

Once I have photos of the desk, you’ll all get to see it. If we can pull this thing off, it’s gonna be a thing of beauty. Black walnut with polished bronze finishings…

Other than that, though, I really do believe launching Hail & Well Read ate up all my time. Not that I have any regrets about that!

The Week Ahead

It’s Pondathon time, folks! I have a very full TBR, which was why I joined Team Xiaolong. Points are granted based on how many pages you read/audiobook time listened to, with bonus points for completing a book. I’m challenging myself to get through five books this week.

On top of that, I still have some work to do in order for Hail & Well Read to reach tip top shape. There are a few posts in need of drafting, and edits to do, largely retagging posts appropriately. Of course, I have almost 500 posts, so that…may take more than a week. It isn’t 100% top priority, either.

And on top of that, I hope to make a slew of booksleeves this week! The hiccups in resolving H&WR’s feed issues left me without a lot of time for sewing this week, and if I want my Etsy to be ready to roll by early February, next week is the week to double down creatively. This definitely belongs at the top of my to-do list.

Never let it be said that I’m not ambitious, I suppose?

So there you have it. The first week of Hail & Well Read, packed up nicely, broken down neatly. I hope you’ll hang around for many more of these to come, and I wish you another wonderful January week! There’s approximately a billion days left in the month anyway, right? This is the endless one, correct?

Somebody come help me with my time management. There’s no way it’s been almost a whole month of 2020 already.

  1. Ohhh congrats on the shiny!! I still haven’t met ANY in Shield yet xd and I somehow felt into a “Stardew Valley hole” again.. ahah. I also can’t wait to see pictures of that desk – I’ve been wanting to have one and a new library for quite some time (though I don’t quite have the space in my room soo.. ahaha)

Have fun in the Pondathon, i’m sure all will go greatly and it would be more fun than you’d expected ! xx

    1. Thanks!! It’s the only one I have, and I even thought to myself before the raid, “haha what if it’s shiny, except I’m never that lucky.” AND THEN!

Ohhhh, the Stardew rabbit hole is endless and I wish you luck lol. And you’ll see the desk as soon as I have it! It won’t be super soon but I won’t be able to stop talking about it once it’s done, I guarantee it. 😂

Thank you!!! I’m very excited about it and I think it’s gonna do wonders for my reading slump.

      1. omg that’s priceless 😂 It once happened to me that i’d say things like that as a joke “omg what it ..?” for that to happen RIGHT AFTER.

yeps. part of me is craving playing breath of the wild, but Stardew remains open on my switch because I don’t wanna wait the end of the day to close it.. and SO! I just open it and keep playing… ahaha

        1. Now it’ll never happen again. 😂 Just the way things work.

The endless cycle!! No escape! (As if BotW isn’t equally addictive haha.)
