December 5th, 2020

I’m not entirely sure when it became December (though my calendar says that happened five days ago), but I suppose it is time for a Weekly Wrap regardless! At the moment, I’m in holiday prep up to my eyeballs, so you’ll forgive me if I keep this short and sweet. There are presents to be wrapped and last minute crafts to be completed. It’s a busy life!

Life Beyond the Blog

I’m not kidding about it being holiday prep season. Around my aggressive playthrough of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (which I beat last night, please don’t judge me too hard), I’ve wrapped presents for at least seven different people, made a list of who to send holiday cards to, and buckled down on some gift projects I’ve still got to finish.

No, I am not capable of biting of small amounts of things. I only bite off more than I can chew, and you cannot stop me.

Somehow, I also managed to cram in two new reads, three shifts at work, and a walloping of existential dread on one night (which, in retrospect, may have been a night I forgot to take my anti-depressants, explaining a lot). How I’ve gotten it all done? I have no idea. And how I still have a bazillion things left to do? Also no idea. The world works in mysterious ways come December. Absolutely mystifying. Also makes me want a big ol’ pause button.

The Week Ahead

PRESENTS GALORE. Making presents, wrapping presents, mailing presents, so on and so forth. I need to get a lot of these out the door ASAP so they arrive in time for the holidays and a couple of birthdays, and let me tell you, it is a lot more work than I bargained for.

And I started holiday prepping in October. (I also started procrastinating in October too, which might have something to do with the current state of affairs.)

But if I can get through this mountain of present-related things, my plan is to pick up at least two books, as well as stitch an exciting thing to commemorate the release of Warmaidens on December 15th. That gives me about a week and a half to pull my life together like I’ve never pulled it together before.

Frankly, I’m not sure I have the brain capacity for anything but these things here. And work, which I’m mostly forced to have brain capacity for. Bummer, when I want to have some extra time to read. But that’s the way it goes, and I’m doing the best I can with the time I’ve got.

I hope you’re more relaxed than I am, and that there are good things in store for you! I’ll see you next Weekly Wrap (hopefully with fewer things on my plate), and I wish you good reads in the meantime! 💛
