Last week’s radio silence has led to this week’s Double Weekly Wrap! Such is the nature of the holidays, to be honest. Why post every week when you can lose all sense of time and roll up every other week?
Life Beyond the Blog
In the last two weeks, I have poked myself in the fingers with sewing needles, made a plushie that is sadly more misshapen than I wanted it to be, and run around like a chicken with its head cut off at my day job. Which, frankly, is all par for the course when you work a retail job during the holidays.
Have I managed to read very much? Nope. Have I done a lot with the blog? Surprisingly, yes. And have I consumed outrageous amounts of Scooby-Doo episodes in between my hours cutting fabric and hoping the power goes out at the store so the worst, most demanding customers go home and leave us be? Oh, you betcha. (And yes, of course I stand by the idea that Velma Dinkley is queer. She was Baby Me’s first life goals or wife goals dilemma, in retrospect, and I still love her with all my heart.)
Anyhow, this Weekly Wrap is about as long as a regular one, despite covering two weeks. That’s just how time flies at this point in the year, and truth be told, I only know what day it is by the dread that fills me on a morning I have to get ready for work. Let me tell you, I can’t wait to reach the January slow-down, when customers stop freaking out over the smallest, most fixable things. January means actual peace, or something close to it. Wouldn’t it be nice?
So there you have it for a quick look past the blog: life is bonkers, retail is at its seasonal peak, and I am somehow surviving on a completely messed up sleep schedule, holiday baked goods, and the vain hope that somehow, over Christmas, I will magically become well-rested. I can dream, right?

The Week Ahead
This is it: the final stretch before Christmas. Retail in the next few days is essentially the nightmare scenario, so it’s going to be all hands on deck. I’m not counting on a whole lot of free time, even on my days off, since my family is also behind on baking, wrapping presents, and even decorating the tree. This year has messed with everyone’s sense of time, and we’re trying to get by as best we can.
That said, I’m looking forward to Christmas. I’ve sent out gifts to friends of mine, and I can’t wait to see my family’s faces when they unwrap the things I’ve bought and made them. Gift giving is really one of my favorite parts of the holidays, not because it’s stuff, but because of the love and thought behind it, especially where handmade gifts are concerned.
Here’s hoping it’s going to be a restful, joyful Christmas at the end of next week, even if the days leading up to it aren’t! 🎄
That’s it for this Weekly Wrap! I hope you’re all doing well, and that the holidays are a time of peace and happiness for you. Much love to you all, and see you next week! 💛
Ooof yep.. even in my coffee shop industry people get batshit crazy xD
But hey- the 24th is actually the best day to work for tips; last year I made almost $50 in CASH just in tips after we devided it between us three workers. it’s great! (although.. not a boring time for sure.. )
I can’t believe Christmas/my birthday & new year is so fastly approaching.. in my head i’m still just in mid-November 😱 This one shall be different though, as we got FAR more gifts than usual this year (first one any of us isn’t in dept — surprisingly xd)
Wishing you a nice holiday season, love — And much courage for work xx
Ugh, I WISH we could accept tips! But we can’t where I work so it’s just more chaos without any kind of compensation. 😑 I’m glad you got so many tips last year though!!
And it sounds like you’re about to have a really fun holiday season! Time has no meaning anymore, that’s for sure, but I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and birthday! 💕
You too, friend, and thank you!!
Good luck with the last couple of days before christmas!
