We did it! We made it to Christmas! And this week’s Weekly Wrap is brought to you by an inordinate amount of Christmas treats and some delightful gift choices.
Life Beyond the Blog
In most ways, this has been a quiet week. It was the tail end of the Christmas rush in my store (which ends a little sooner than most rushes), and then it was time off to relax for the holidays. I spent the early part of the week recovering, though, because I did something to strain my hand, and couldn’t pick up anything that required me to stretch my thumb. With some rest and some support from an ace bandage wrap, it’s feeling much better, but it was a frustrating start to the week. I never realized how much I count on being able to open the peanut butter jar by myself! π°
But that aside, it’s actually been wonderful. I’ve had a blast opening Christmas cards, finding out friends got their presents just in time, and goofing off with my family because we were all in our own home for the first time. Normally, we spend Christmas Eve at my grandmother’s and Christmas night at my uncle’s, so this is well and truly the very first time we’ve celebrated 100% at home. It’s been a wonderful change of pace, even if it’s because of COVID. Christmas dinner was especially amazing, since my little brother has been learning how to cook some amazing meals. He treated us all to an incredible chicken marsala last night, and the only thing about it that makes me unhappy is that there weren’t any leftovers!
And of course, I got lots of books for Christmas. Both my immediate family and extended family teamed up to cover lots of ground on my bookish wishlist, and I ended up with over twenty new titles! I’m incredibly grateful they took the time to coordinate and make this so special and fun for me. β€οΈπ
Meanwhile, I made my brother an Among Us plushie, my brother gave my dad a 1,000 piece puzzle that’s all white, and my sister got three different blankets from three different people. It’s been one of our best, least stressful Christmases, and I’m going to treasure it for a long while!

The Week Ahead
I have my fingers crossed this coming week will be quiet. Due to the New Year, my mom gets Thursday and Friday off, giving her a four day weekend and lots more family time. We might watch some movies together, or bake more goodies, or maybe just do our own separate things. No matter what, though, I’m looking forward to it. It feels like a warm, comforting way to close out an awful year, and I hope it sets the tone for 2021.
During the days when we’re not hanging out as a family, though, I’m going to try to squeeze in some last minute reads and some big blogging features. There’s some cool new stuff ahead, and I can’t wait to show it to you all!
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week, and for those of you who celebrated Christmas, I hope it was what you needed it to be. And if it was a difficult Christmas, for any reason, I send my love. It’s been a hard year all around, and I wish you nothing but brighter days ahead. β€οΈ
