Top 5 Tuesday || Authors I Want to Try

To be honest, this T5T topic carries a lot of pressure behind it.

There are so many amazing authors out there, and I’m sure plenty of them are authors I haven’t yet picked up. But in true bookworm fashion, Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads is making me reexamine and cherish my TBR just a week after shaking my head at its towering heights. So, here are some authors I want to try sooner rather than later! Think I’ll be able to make that happen?

Rebecca Roanhorse

Author of Black Sun and the Sixth World series, I talked a little bit last week about the fact that I haven’t got around to Trail of Lightning even though I want to. That said, I’m going to tackle her work soon. Every time she releases a new book, I hear nothing but astonishment and praise surrounding it, and it’s high time I find out for myself what all the fuss is about!

I’m especially excited to dive into Black Sun, since Twitter seems to be absolutely buzzing over it. Plus, some of the bloggers I most respect are in awe of it, and that makes me even more excited!

Tracy Deonn

You’ve all been talking about Legendborn. I know you have, because I keep seeing it all over Twitter, all over people’s blogs. And dang it, everything the internet has said has made me add yet another book to my TBR! I’ve got high hopes that Tracy Deonn’s debut will leave me awestruck, and until I read it, Legendborn has a place of honor on my shelf, facing out.

(Yes, it’s to remind me to get to it sooner rather than later. And because it has a beautiful cover!)

Rebecca Mix

Becca Mix may not actually have a book out just yet (The Ones We Burn arrives in 2022!), but I’ve been following her for ages on Twitter, and I love her wit and enthusiasm! She’s always funny, always finding a way to bring a little light into any situation, and I so much admire her dedication to her craft.

I also can’t wait for The Ones We Burn, since it’ll be witchy sapphic goodness! Just my kind of thing!

Adalyn Grace

All the Stars and Teeth has been sitting on my shelf, begging me to read it for ages. And since the duology is now complete, I think it’s time I get a move on and treat myself to Adalyn Grace’s work. Mermaids, pirates, royalty, and a bit of magic all rolled into one book sounds like something I’ll absolutely devour, and it’s my hope that I’ll enjoy Belladonna, her next project.

Plus, I love it when she posts pictures of her pets. What can I say? I’m a sucker for good words, sure, but also for super cute animals. 🥰

Hafsah Faizal

Ever since We Hunt the Flame came out, I’ve been super interested in Hafsah Faizal’s work! Many of the bloggers I admire and respect cherish her Sands of Arawiya duology, and many more are looking forward to A Tempest of Tea, slated for release in 2022.

But Hafsah also does incredible work through Icey Designs, along with help from her family! Odds are good you’ve probably seen her work in a book box or two, especially her enamel pins. It’s truly amazing the amount of creative work she engages in, and I’m blown away!

I’m also fishing out my wallet, because some of those Icey Designs candles and pins are gorgeous.

So, of all the authors I want to try, where should I start? There’s still others after these five, but I think this is top of the list. After all, what else is Top 5 Tuesday for?

And while we’re at it, do you and I share any of the authors here? Or do you think I missed a really important author? Let’s chat!

  1. OMG LOL @ your intro.
    Firstly, you’re welcome.
Secondly, I haven’t read anything by anyone on your list, and I own books by Tracy, Adalyn and Hafsah… so, you’re not alone!!

    1. Listen, I have to lovingly blame someone for the rollercoaster of TBR feelings T5T tends to put me through. 😂 And omg you and I just need to get it together, huh? But hey, you’re right, now we know we’re not alone!
