Turns out that starting a new job, petting some dogs, and reading a book makes for a really pleasant Weekly Wrap! Who knew?
Life Beyond the Blog
The new job has been taking up most of my time. Since it’s in a vet clinic, I’m bouncing between the phones and the back, where I get to see some of the sweet animals who are in for the day. Easily my favorite thing is seeing some of the animals’ names in our scheduling system, or meeting the really goofy ones (like Strudel the dog, who only wanted love yesterday morning!). It makes for such a low-stress day even when the phones are off the hook, especially in comparison to my retail job.
Speaking of which, tomorrow is my last day in retail! I couldn’t be more relieved to say that. Though I’ve had some great coworkers, the overall experience has been incredibly draining, and I’m ready to move on it from it. Not to mention lucky to move on. Sure, I’ll miss my discount, but I miss my mental health being in good shape a whole lot more.
Beyond job things, I finally busted my reading slump on Thursday night with Allison Saft’s Down Comes the Night! I don’t know how soon I’ll have a review for you, but know this: it’s an absolutely astounding enemies to lovers gothic murder mystery fantasy, and I’m going to be yelling about it for some time! Absolutely stellar trope use in a well-knit standalone, and it’s completely captured my heart. Plus, it makes an awesome winter read because of the atmosphere!
Yes, I know this section is supposed to be for beyond blogging, but what can I say? It was a really good book!

The Week Ahead
Next week, life will finally settle down. My schedule for the new job is in place, and I no longer have to worry about the old job. I’m looking forward to all the time and energy this is going to free up, and I’m hoping to spend it just relaxing. And reading, since I’m behind on my reading challenge again, and since I’ve got some ARCs demanding my attention, as per usual.
With a little luck, I’m hoping to do some crafty stuff too. Working two jobs for the last couple weeks has meant I do very, very little other than eat, sleep, work, and I want to get back to actually making things! It’s good for the brain. And for the storage in my room, which is made of about 50% books, 49% fabric, and 1% various knickknacks I can’t part with. How it’s still halfway organized is truly beyond me, in retrospect.
But overall, I’m not planning anything big. This is going to be a quiet little celebration of a big change, and that’s just fine by me. 😊
I hope you’re all doing well this week, and I wish you even better days ahead! Let’s chat, and then I’ll see you again next weekend! 💛
