The million dollar question this week: do I still remember how to write a Weekly Wrap?

Life Beyond the Blog

According to my list of posts, I haven’t done one of these puppies in…three months?

Oh my god, folks, I am so sorry.

Of course, not that my life is a particularly interesting saga of any kind. Truth be told, I’m not sure you’ve missed a whole lot in the last three months (two, if you count the Monthly Wrap I squeezed out in early May). Some things have sucked, like losing one of my beloved bunnies in early April. And other things have been amazing, like planning a vacation to see my best friend, and working in an office where I regularly get to snuggle puppies and lovingly harass a very oblivious orange cat!

The world at large has also had some ups and downs, but on a far greater scale. For the sake of my own brain and maybe yours as well, we won’t get into that right now. Process some bite-size pieces at a time for now instead of biting off more existential despair than we can chew.

Really, I feel like I don’t have especially much to catch you all up on, even after three months. For the first time in a very long time, my life feels like it’s coasting along at even keel, which is a relief I can’t even begin to properly describe. I’m sure some kind of earth-shattering surprise will rock my world soon, but for now, I’m reveling in the incredible peace of knowing most of my life holds for a week at a time rather than hour to hour.

(Mostly this is nice, because it lets me decide when I can read and/or play video games, stress relief that is sorely needed sometimes.)

Posts This Week

This week alone, I’ve taken the plunge back into blogging after an accidental month-long hiatus, so four posts have made their way into the world!

The Week Ahead

Did I say above that I know what my life looks like for about a week at a time?

Okay, maybe I exaggerated. Disclaimer, I guess, that even when I’m writing my own Weekly Wrap, not everything is 100% accurate at all times.

That said, I think I’ve got something that looks like a plan! With only three days at work this week, the way shifts panned out, I’ve got more time than expected for doing some more reading. I’m also going to be helping with some spring-turned-summer cleaning at home, and come Friday, I’ll be glued to IMDBTv for the revival of Leverage!

(Yes, I asked for Friday off specifically to watch it. No, I do not regret it. Yes, I am obsessed with this show in all its forms. No, I do not regret that either.)

I can’t promise I’ll be especially social over the next week, but I’m at least excited to have that kind of precious time to myself. Plus, I finally have the reading mood back, after it eluded me so completely the last couple months. Why waste that? I’ll put it to work and knock out a few more titles from my TBR.

The one unexpected decision I’ve made for next week, though, is to stay out of Camp NaNoWriMo. I love it, I really do, but I simply don’t feel like I have the time or energy for it this year. Instead, I’ll brainstorm, let the story soup simmer on the back burner, and when I’m ready, I’m ready. No sooner than that. I think that’s fairly reasonable, don’t you?

Besides, you can’t rush sapphic pirates and mermaids, or the queer cryptid protection squad. You’ve got to do it just right. 😉

I hope you’ve all been doing well over the last week (and last months!), and that the week to come looks on you with unimaginable kindness. Hopefully I’ll see you this time next week, too! 💛
