I am buried in holiday baking. There is no hope for me. Save yourselves.
Life Beyond the Blog
Okay, I’m not so buried I can’t write a Weekly Wrap. But let me tell you: there’s a lot of sweets around here, and I think the oven is on all the time now. We’re slowly burning up, but at least we have a lot of chocolate to see us through it. As I write this, I just finished helping with a generous amount of peanut brittle I’m not sure anyone but my grandpa will eat, and once I’m done, I need to hop back to it and pop some layer bars in the oven so they’re done before, y’know, next year.
There is no outside life. There is only baking.
Honestly, though, it’s a nice break. I’m plenty busy with work, and baking chews up some free time, but at least the rewards are nice and tasty. And I’m learning the time a bake is in the oven isΒ perfectΒ for challenging executive dysfunction. I’m a little competitive, so trying to clean up a specific thing before the oven timer goes off and I have to return to the bake? Surprisingly effective. It’s me versus the clock and I refuse to lose! π€
The Week Ahead
Now, here’s where it gets exciting. The obvious good times ahead? Christmas. I love gift giving, I’ll admit I love giftΒ getting, and it’s nice to have time off to relax in my PJs all day without judgment. What’s better than that?
But even more exciting is that on Monday morning, all three bunnies that need to be spayed/neutered are going in for their surgeries. No more peeing on things to mark their territory! No more splitting them up so they don’t make babies! Once everyone has healed up, it’s going to be freedom for all! Since I’ve spent the last couple weeks cleaning up after the two smallest ones in particular, I can’tΒ wait for this. My coworkers are convinced I’m about to buy a confetti cannon to celebrate, and while I can’t actually afford that, I’m buying one in my heart. Worth it.
This also means my week is going to be taken up by post-surgery bunny care and the holidays. The busy times never end, but I’m still looking forward to it! It’s going to be a relief more than anything, to be honest.
And that’s that for this Weekly Wrap! How has this week treated you? If you’re celebrating soon, what are your holiday plans? Let’s chat! π
I hope you have a great week coming!
Same to you, Evelyn! Happy holidays if you’re celebrating!
Baking is so therapeutic (unless you don’t get to eat it), and I totally understand about cleaning up and beating the over timer π Hoping all the bunnies are good, but I’m sure I’ll see for myself in a moment when I keep catching up!! π
The only nontherapeutic thing for me is that I’m bad at baking everything except a SINGLE TREAT. π Oh well, still an overall positive! And yep, haha, you’ll certainly catch up. Not to mention you’re more than welcome to pester me for bunny updates on other socials! I love sharing them. π₯°
Oooh, what’s your one baking go-to?? Is it the peanut brittle?
Oh my god, no, I would destroy peanut brittle. π I make these layer bar things with graham crackers, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and some condensed milk. It’s relatively simple, but they’re a smash hit every year, and I haven’t screwed them up horribly lol!
That sounds DELICIOUS. And way better than peanut brittle.
Correct on both counts! I’m sending you some in my heart, since I think actually sending you some all the way from the States would be an actual postal nightmare. π
ππ agreed. But thank you!! ππ₯°
