We’re back in the T5T game with this quarter’s most anticipated reads!
After I completely failed Meeghan’s scavenger hunt in this last quarter, then fell off the T5T wagon entirely, it’s time to get back in the saddle. And what’s easier than talking about my most anticipated reads for April through June? I think she set this topic to be nice, and honestly? I’m more than happy with that!
Besides, if you’re here, you’re a bookworm like me. You probably love talking about your TBR that you may or may not actually get to too, don’t you? Don’t try to hide it. I see you. I know you.
An Unreliable Magic by Rin Chupeco (A Hundred Names for Magic #2)
Wicked as You Wish was a great time last year, complete as it was with a group cast, familiar tales twisted into new shapes, and heaps of magical adventure. I’m so excited to dive back into Tala’s world and see what comes next in her adventures, especially seeing as the summary says she’s been chosen by an ultra-powerful sword. I do love it when a chosen one gets their life deeply complicated, if I’m honest. It’s just more interesting that way!
We get to see An Unreliable Magic hit shelves on May 3rd, 2022, but I have an ARC I’m hoping to read and review a little in advance of that!
Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White
Trans boy escapes cult, joins up with other queer teens to stop Armageddon, and also falls in love with another boy who’s (and I quote) “gorgeous, autistic, and a deadly shot”? And also the protag is mutating into a monstrous bioweapon? YES, I want to read it!
Hell Followed with Us is Andrew Joseph White’s debut, and I’m beyond eager to see exactly what he’s got to share! This book has been all the buzz in my corner of book Twitter, and as soon as I can really settle in to devour it, you know I won’t have any hesitations.
Once again, I have an ARC I hope to read and review prior to release day, on June 7th, 2022!
We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal (Sands of Arawiya #1)
I know, I know, I’m so behind! It feels like everyone has read and loved We Hunt the Flame, but I still haven’t had a chance to read it. Well, no more! This may not be a new release, but it’s a book I mean to sit down and savor sooner rather than later. I’ve waited long enough by now, haven’t I?
Plus, I think Illumicrate is doing a special edition sale of this duology, and I need to figure out if I’m going to cave and buy those, or if it’s not quite on my “give me every edition pls” list. 👀
This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi (This Woven Kingdom #1)
Okay, first of all, this is a rare case where I don’t like the Illumicrate special edition. Look how beautiful and rich the colors are on this original cover? Seriously, if you’re interesting in trading the regular US hardcover for the Illumicrate edition, let’s chat, because I far prefer this one.
Anyway, cover complaints aside, I’m really excited for This Woven Kingdom! I’ve actually never read anything by Tahereh Mafi before, and I’ll confess I’m a bit of a sucker for the lost royal trope. And hey, apparently Goodreads reviewers say this is a slow-burn, one of my favorite romance tropes! Hopefully this holds up to all my expectations! ❤️
Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta (Gearbreakers #1)
Hello? Sapphic Pacific Rim, and the sequel is called Godslayers? I got this beauty in one of my book hauls a while back and then fell into a reading slump, so it’s gone tragically unread so far. That ends soon, though, because this sounds like a book tailor-made for me! Who am I to say no to action lesbians tearing down corrupt empires?
Also, I’m completely in love with the covers of this duology. Bonus points for that for sure!
So, how’s that for a manageable TBR? All these anticipated reads, and I have three whole months to read them! Even with my ability to wander off into non-bookish territory, I should be able to accomplish that.
But let’s chat! What are your most anticipated reads for this quarter? Any number one favorites, or do you have a neat little cluster waiting for your attention? Let’s chat! 💛
Oh wow. So many amazing books on here!! And a reminder that I need to read Wicked As You Wish… It’s been on my TBR for too long… 😅
(And yes, I was being nice, but everyone’s lists this week are making me remember how many books I have to read, and also how many amazing books are coming out… it’s torture!!)
Glad you’re back, and you didn’t fail anything!! 💕
Wicked As You Wish is a delight and you should definitely pick it up! And lol, you’re only torturing yourself this week, huh? 😂
Hahahaha, unintentionally!! I was aiming for an easy month after the scavenger hunt of doom. 😂
